The American Indians of the Great Plains developed a mode of transportation called the travois. The travois was used to transport the possessions and belongings of the people as they moved camp to follow the buffalo. There were two types of travois - the dog travois and the horse travois.

Native American Life - Stone Age Life
The life styles of American Indians ranged from nomadic, semi-nomadic to static. They lived in separate tribes across the vast continent of North America and the Native Indian life was dictated by the natural resources that were available to them. Their North American Life and pre-historic Stone Age lifestyle only changed when the Europeans appeared. The Native Americans had never undergone the changes and transition to the Bronze Age Life or the Iron Age Life.
