Native American Indians  - Culture (Way of Life)
The way of life of the American Indians was dictated by climate, land, natural raw materials available and the animals, fish, birds, plants, nuts, berries and trees that were available to them. The subsistence of the American Indians was related to agriculture and hunting. The natural resources and materials available to the different groups of American Indians in each area or region provided the food and the clothing of the different tribes. The weather and the changing seasons also affected the way of life of each of the groups of American Indians, their lifestyles changed according to the time of the year. The American Indians languages, weapons, trading currencies, beliefs, ceremonies and religions were also important elements of their way of life. The Native Indians who lived on the borders of lands often reflected two types of lifestyles.

The Woodland and Plains Indians were two diverse groups of Native Americans. The Eastern Woodlands Indians adopted the traditional cultures of the Mohegan, Ojibwa, Cree tribes living in the Eastern Woodlands of North America. The Plains Indians adopted the cultures of the Blackfoot, Hidatsa, Dakota (Sioux) tribes.

Native American Indians - Stone Tools
Before contact with the Europeans the indigenous population of American Indians lived a Stone Age existence. Although the area the different tribes covered the one thing they had in common was the use of stone tools. Every tribe made a variety of stone tools including hammers and scrapers. Weapons such as knives, arrowheads, and spear points were also made from stone. The American Indians had no sharp metal tools or weapons.
